*** g87 9/8 10-11 Future Prospects for Protestantism-And for You! ***
If Your Church Fails to Act, Will You? If, after making an honest investigation, you are less than pleased with what you see, do more than just complain. A journalist, while commenting on Karl Barth’s statement that a church is its members, logically concluded: “Church members . . . are responsible for what the church says and does.” So ask yourself: Am I willing to share responsibility for everything my church says and does? Can I really be proud of having all its members as spiritual brothers? While considering these questions, do not overlook the significance of Revelation 18:4, 8. Speaking of the world empire of false religion, displeasing to God, it says: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues . . . [for] her plagues [shall] come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” You may sincerely believe that your church is no part of false religion that God says he will soon destroy. But your life depends upon being 100 percent sure. Are you? False religion has no future, nor do those who support it. True religion will last forever, along with those who practice it. Make your choice accordingly.

Thanks for posting and welcome to the board!
I also read Crisis of Conscience after learning TTATT. Second book I read after Apocalypse Delayed by Jim Penton (also an excellent read). I second your positive statements about Ray and CoC. After reading, I was left with the same feeling; the curtain had been pulled back! -

Paul belived paradise was heaven
by DS211 innow i want all to add whatever they want to.

"Paradise" is used only three times in the New Testament - 2 Cor 12:4; Rev 2:7; Lk 23:43 - and it's pretty clearly a reference to heaven in all cases.
Of these verses, Luke 23:43 presents the biggest problem for the WTS:
Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Despite all instances of "paradise" in the NT clearly implying heaven, the WT says this "paradise" is a FUTURE TIME ON EARTH. That being the case, how could the evildoer be there "today"?But then, when has the GB ever allowed a little thing like the bible to get in the way of a good doctrine.

New Awake magazine goes after the media
by cedars inhere is a link to the pdf.... http://www.jw.org/download/?issue=201312&output=html&pub=g&fileformat=pdf&alllangs=0&langwritten=e&txtcmslang=e&isbible=0.
some interesting quotes.... while it is wise not to believe everything we read in the news, it does not follow that there is nothing we can trust.
the key may be to have a healthy skepticism, while keeping an open mind.tone: when the tone of a news item is angry, spiteful, or highly critical, it suggests that an attack is under way and not a reasoned argument.sources: is there evidence of thorough research?

There are a number of child abuse cases lined up against the WT right now. It's reasonable to assume they expect more to come. I see this as damage control, preparing their readers for what they expect to be in the news in the near future.

clarity:
I was told, an elder on the west coast, was sentenced to prison for rape of children.
But except hearing of it thru hearsay ... it really is off the radar!
Lou Daigle was a Jehovah's Witness elder and child rapist on the West Coast (BC) who was sentenced to prison this year. It was not publicized that he was a JW.

The only thing I can come up with is if the GB were to print BLATANT, OUTRIGHT LIES in the Watchtower magazine. That would totally do it for sure.
Oh wait,
Never mind.

witchywoman,
Nice that you were able to talk to Nate. He's a great person who has never hesitated to talk about his experience of growing up in the JW religion.
